چکیده
Abstract Aims To investigate the change in atherosclerotic plaque volume patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) and declining renal function, using coronary computed tomography angiography (CCTA). Methods results In total, 891 participants analysable serial CCTA available glomerular filtration rate (GFR, derived Cockcroft–Gault formulae) at baseline (CCTA 1) follow-up 2) were included. CKD was defined as GFR <60 mL/min/1.73 m2. Declining function ≥10% drop from baseline. Quantitative assessment of composition performed on both scans. There 203 688 without CKD. associated higher total volume, but similar progression, measured by crude (57.5 ± 3.4 vs. 65.9 7.7 mm3/year, P = 0.28) or annualized (17.3 1.0 19.9 2.0 0.25) volume. 709 stable 182 GFR. independently (54.1 3.2 80.2 9.0 < 0.01) (16.4 0.9 23.9 2.6 increase CKD, progression driven calcified plaques whereas it non-calcified plaques. Conclusion Decline more rapid presence not.

Arterial Stiffness, Kidney Function, and Chronic Kidney Disease Progression
Arterial stiffness can nowadays be measured easily and noninvasively around the globe. Although well established as an independent predictor of cardiovascular events, less is known about the role of arterial stiffness in the progressive loss of kidney function once chronic kidney disease (CKD) is established. In addition to measures of arterial stiffness, a number of devices now noninvasively r...

Objective(s): Cardiovascular disease is a leading cause of morbimortality with over half cardiovascular events occurring in the asymptomatic population by traditional risk stratification. This preliminary study aimed to evaluate systemic plaque vulnerability in patients with prior Coronary Artery Disease (CAD) with a single Whole Body [FDG] PET-CT scan in terms of plaq...

W hether we like it or not, nephrologists around the world have been called to action. Our mission is to attenuate the growth of chronic kidney disease (CKD). Several conditions will need to gel for us to succeed. Although we now have a better understanding of its alarming incidence and prevalence within populations, however we choose to define it, better methods are needed to identify at risk ...

Background. There is evidence of the association between dietary energy density and chronic diseases. However, no report exists regarding the relation between DED and chronic kidney disease (CKD). Objective. To examine the association between dietary energy density (DED), renal function, and progression of chronic kidney disease (CKD). Design. Cross-sectional. Setting. Three nephrology clinics....
